On Friday 23rd November 2022 a time capsule was removed from the ground at St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Lane Cove and the contents revealed.

The time capsule was placed in the ground as part of the 75th Anniversary Celebrations at the school in September 1997. This year, in September 2022 during our 100-year Centenary Celebrations the time capsule was unearthed.

The contents of the capsule included cards on which every child from Kindergarten to Year 6 completed and submitted. They included their name, age, what they wanted to be when they grew up and their fondest memories of St Michael’s. Staff added some staff photos and photos of the school grounds and classrooms. They also included copies of the Michaelian newsletter, the Catholic Weekly, the North Shore Times [local paper] and staff bulletins.

Whilst the current students were intrigued by the photos of the changes of the school environment it was the local residents, who either attended St Michael’s at the time or their children were at the school in 1997, who were curious to see the contents of the capsule and to know if there were any personal items of their own in the capsule. In response to their curiosity, we have digitised the contents to make them available for you to view via this link.
