At St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Lane Cove, students are encouraged to be actively engaged in a wide range of decision-making processes within and outside of the classroom. Students are provided with opportunities to be involved in activities that help others and seek to make the world a better place.
Student Representative Council meetings are held fortnightly with students from K–6. Students are encouraged to speak about a range of aspects of their school environment and they work collaboratively to identify ways they can positively change, and act upon these changes, within the St Michael’s school community.
All Year 6 students attend the National Young Leaders Day to support leadership development, as each student is viewed as a leader within the school community. Student leadership roles include school captains, vice captains, sport colour house captains, Liturgy leaders, environmental leaders, library leaders, IT leaders and Kindergarten ‘Buddy’ system.
